Objects

4 The charity’s objects (‘Objects’) are specifically restricted to the following:

  1. To advance the education of the public in the subject of miscarriages of justice and to
    promote research for the public benefit in all aspects of that subject and to publish the
    useful results of that research.
  2. To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by working with persons affected b y
    miscarriages of justice and other socially excluded persons to assist them to integrate
    into society, in particular by:
    1. Increasing or coordinating opportunities for such people to engage with
      service providers, to enable those providers to adapt service s to better meet their needs;
      and
    2. Raising public awareness of the issues affecting such people.
  3. To promote the efficiency of the police, Crown Prosecution Service, courts and other
    criminal justice agencies for the public benefit.
    In furtherance of this
    object but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power to engage in
    political activity provided that the trustees are satisfied that the proposed activities will further
    the purposes of the charity to an extent justified by the resources committed and th e activity
    is not the dominant means by which the charity carries out its objects.
    ‘ socially excluded’ means prevented from participating fully in society.
    ‘miscarriage of justice’ means the conviction , or proven wrongful accusation , and punishment of a person for a crime which he or she did not commit.
