There ought to be a better way – but whatever systems are put in place, it is the power of investigative journalism and public opinion which form the court of last resort when all legal avenues have been explored in vain. It can be a lonely and obsessive furrow to plough, but for those that do it can be rewarding beyond any form of journalistic endeavour.
