David served for 30 years with the Metropolitan Police Service and was promoted to Detective Chief Inspector. He was a senior investigating officer in areas of homicide, rape and other serious sexual offences, child protection, international and organized crime and worked in the investigation of complaints against police.

David is now involved with a number of community, voluntary and charitable pursuits and balances those against running his small business consultancy, Cause Consultancy. He offers his transferred skills, knowledge, experience and expertise from three decades in policing, criminal justice and community involvement. David is an Honours Law graduate. He was also awarded an Honorary Master of Laws degree by the University of Greenwich and an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Westminster. He is a former member of the University of Greenwich Assembly and was an appointed external member of its Equal Opportunities Committee. He is a Scholarship Patron of the University of Westminster and a Coach/Mentor at Imperial College.

He served as an appointed special adviser to the Mayor of Lewisham and Lewisham Council on Community Cohesion and Community Relations. He is the immediate past Chair of Lewisham Community Police Consultative Group. He is a former member of the Independent Advisory Group to the Diversity Directorate at New Scotland Yard. He is a former Board member of Sabre Employment, an organisation with expertise in the successful recruitment, retention, and development of disabled people in employment, a former board member of the UK Centre for the Advancement of Interprofessional Education.

David is an accomplished speaker, presenter and pundit. He has spoken at international conferences in Canada, the USA and South Africa. He presented a paper to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva on ‘Developing human resources in the Public Emergency Services’ and the importance of Diversity and Equalities in that context. He presented the inaugural lecture at South Bank University for the Division of Social & Political Studies. He was an external speaker at the Oxford 6th Form Conference at New College, Oxford University. More recently he was a keynote speaker at the Cambridge University Students Union Debating Society and keynote speaker at Warwick University.

He completed a Mediation Foundation accreditation with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR).

David has received numerous community, academic and civic awards and recognition for his work in community and race relations, diversity and equalities, the promotion of racial harmony and good citizenship.
